OnionShare 2.7

Original release notes
  • Security fix: prevent sharing a single file that is a symlink (to a potentially sensitive file). This would require accidental action by the user or local compromise (which would mean bigger problems than just this). See GHSA-2pj7-hh2q-hjrh
  • New feature: 'Download mode' which lets you download a share from another OnionShare, in your OnionShare (instead of via Tor Browser).
  • New feature: Webtunnel bridges
  • New feature: Ability to set an upload size limit in Receive Mode: either 'per upload' or for the entire runtime of that receive mode service.
  • Change: Use UNIX sockets for web server instead of TCP port, on Linux/MacOS.
  • Change: use XDG_CACHE_HOME for storing bundled Tor and OnionShare cache data (instead of ~/.config)
  • Change: localized strings for various UI buttons, as well as more locale-friendly auto-stop/start date/time fields.
  • Bug fix: Prevent exception when attempting to upload to a Receive Mode whose auto-stop timer has triggered but which is still receiving a large file.
  • Bug fix: Pressing tab on keyboard scrolls to the + (new tab) button after the last active tab.
  • Bug fix: Alert when a chosen Receive Mode folder is not writable
  • Bug fix: Moat circumvention settings API was crashing
  • Bug fix: Better dark mode detection
  • Bug fix: Fixe ZipProgressBar for large file sizes exceeding 32-bit integer limits
  • Other: simplify Flatpak PyQt dependency in packaging
  • Other: Various dependency updates, including Tor 0.4.9.14, new Tor signing key, etc
  • Other: rename meek-azure to just meek per upstream deprecation of the former name
  • Other: Make pyproject.toml mostly PEP 621 compliant
